Chapter 2

“Long time no see, stranger” the mysterious figure said.

She stood frozen, and it wasn’t because of the cold. “…..you…”

“Now..what I want to know is, whats a skinny girl like you doing out here in the cold in nothing but a shirt and a pair of jeans?”

She snapped out of her imaginary blackout state and replied “Well, I’m on my way to a friend’s returning party, heard of him? His name is Akaya"

”Well, then I must say I’m rather jealous if you’re willing to freeze your bum off for this guy. Tell me, did it say ‘Ignore the cold and come without a coat’ on the invitation card?”

“Hmm, thinking about it, there wasn’t even an invitation card since he came back without saying a word to me about it

Taking off his coat, he put it on her and let it drape around her.

“Well, I’m sure he’s feeling very bad about it but he can’t help it since this little miss forgot to tell him that she changed her phone number, email address, everything”

“Well, I’m sure she thought that he at least had a little initiation to find out.”

“He did…and he apologizes for not contacting her for so long.”

“We’ll see how that apology acceptance turns out”

“I guess we will”

They stood silent for a few moments. For awhile there, Amane actually thought that she had just awoken from a dream and was going back to the old flirty, manipulative friends days. But, of course, the present was the present and the past remained in the past.

“Nice to finally see you,” she broke the silence.

“Well, it feels good to be back,” he replied almost instantly.

“Are you staying for good?”

“Well, I kind of have to work some things out at work, and have to find a place to stay, but if it all works out then…yeah”

“Well…if you cant find a decent place to stay, you’re welcome to sleepover at my place…as long as it isn’t permanent”

“Thanks for the offer….but I don’t think you would be able to fit the two of us….”

She stood stunned when he said that, and thought she heard wrongly.

“I’m sorry……did I hear correctly? The two of you?”

“Erm…yeah….Kaitleen and me…”

At that moment, Amane felt something crush deep inside her..and it didn’t look fixable.
