oh sure, you were all just SOOO excited when he got into the final weren't you? Because Msia would finally (almost) get a shot at bringing home a gold from the Olympics. Sure, you're all fine with supporting Msian athletes...as long as they are winners. Since when does not-winning-a-gold-medal-but-winning-a-silver-instead not matter? it still IS major as far as Msian accomplishments go. Since when do you only have to be a gold-medalist for getting recognition? heck, in my opinion LCW fought until the very end. it just so happened that LinDan absolutely glowing with confidence made him feel lesser of the two. and not to mention the extreme amount of pressure put on the poor guy. i mean, his name etched in history not-to-mention RM1 000 000 prize money if he got the gold medal? (hey, he got 300k, still pretty fucking good if you ask me) but still, what disgusts me the most is how people just so faithfully support LCW when he's on a high horse but instantly drops their support once he falls. Sure, he lost, but did you HEAR the chants at the arena? people were practically screaming LinDan's name throughout the arena, heck no number of Msian's screaming could match that. how much damage do you think it did to LCW in terms of morale? it's fucking ridiculous. sure, he lost, but that does not make him any less of a winner than he was before. and, yes, he lost the match, but he never gave up. isnt THAT what we want in a champion? not someone who wins all the way and is beaming with confidence (no offence to LinDan btw) but someone who actually keeps at it and doesnt give up? so yes, i think it fucking sucks how people are just so willing to keep throwing insults at someone just because he messed up a little. Msia has a silver medal, be fucking proud of it. heck, msia could have left Beijing with no medals (like last year) but at least we have a medal to be proud of. think of all the other countries that didnt have medals. sure, we are nothing compared to China and USA in terms of medal tallies, but isnt one medal better than no medal at all? so stop bashing LCW for nothing. he didnt win, but he is a Msian hero nonetheless |
